Your Journey Matters

I specialise in supporting women who feel as though they have been holding everything together for too long, but are now finding it increasingly difficult to cope.

Hello and a very warm welcome

I specialise in supporting women who feel as though they have been holding everything together for too long but are now finding it increasingly difficult to cope. Many of my clients experience a sense of overwhelm, burnout, and exhaustion. These feelings can arise after years of consistently wearing a mask, engaging in people-pleasing behaviours, and routinely putting others’ needs before their own - often without fully realising the reasons behind these patterns.

We often support those around us yet struggle silently and feel as though we are barely holding on.  We can use coping strategies that include avoidance or other methods of distraction to get through the day, but these are not beneficial in the long term. Suppressing or ignoring these emotions might offer temporary relief, but over time, this approach can contribute to anxiety, depression, anger, frustration, fatigue, low self-esteem, poor confidence, feelings of overwhelm, stress, sleep disturbances, physical pain and discomfort.

There may have been significant life events such as bereavement, loss, illness, pregnancy, parenting, menopause, breakdown in relationships, domestic abuse, work issues, redundancy, and may be compounded by having caring responsibilities, living with diagnosed or undiagnosed ADHD or autism, or simply having day to day struggles. This list is not exclusive, and there may be a lot more!

Does this feel like you, and do you find yourself keeping your deepest thoughts and experiences private, rarely sharing these with others - perhaps because you do not feel heard, or understood?

When we work together you can unmask and be your true self. This is your time and your space, and I will not be shocked by what you share, nothing is too big or too small to talk about. Feelings are feelings they are not good or bad, but your thoughts are not necessarily facts, and I may gently challenge you when necessary, encouraging you to consider a different perspective about yourself, others, or a situation. With your agreement I may introduce strategies that will help and support you.

I understand that starting therapy can feel overwhelming and daunting,  you may not know where to start and that's okay, but often clients find the first session to be a huge relief. Many have been holding onto buried experiences, thoughts, and feelings for a long time. Taking this time for yourself is a chance to explore, learn, and heal.

My goal is to support you every step of the way as you begin this important journey, and I strive to make sessions a place where you feel comfortable and want to be.

You can explore the reasons behind your feelings, thoughts, and behaviours, and consider steps you might take towards change. This is your time, and please know that it is okay to take your time to feel comfortable, and be patient with yourself and the process.

As a therapist you are invited in to a clients inner world to share in their lived experience's, and seeing clients grow, and heal is so rewarding. Together we will work on practising self care, and reducing any negative talk you show towards yourself.

Thank you for reading this, and if this resonates with you, and you would like to talk more then please contact me for a free initial call. This is so you can ask any questions you have, and I can find out a bit about you.

I look forward to talking to you and getting to know more about you.

What will our sessions look like

I am an integrative therapist who holds a fundamental commitment to person-centred counselling.

Integrative Counselling recognises that no single therapeutic approach is universally effective for every client, drawing on techniques from various therapies to support you in understanding and managing your concerns.

I know that we are all unique, so what benefits one may not be suitable for another. As an integrative therapist, I tailor my approach to fit the you.

Person-centred counselling is a therapeutic approach that emphasises the individual's unique experiences, emotions, and perspectives. Originally developed by psychologist Carl Rogers in the 1940s, this model is founded on the belief that individuals possess an inherent capacity for growth, self-healing, and problem-solving. Core principles of person-centred counselling include establishing a safe, non-judgemental environment, demonstrating unconditional positive regard, and consistently applying empathy and understanding. The therapist's responsibility is to provide a supportive and empathetic setting, enabling clients to openly explore their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment or criticism. This approach seeks to empower clients to identify their own solutions and promote personal development and healing.
